Chef Zakir Recipes:
Chef Zakir Recipes in Urdu & English
Chef Zakir Qureshi was one of Pakistan’s most recognized television chefs, known for making Pakistani, Asian, Chinese, Continental, and international dishes approachable for home cooks. He began his professional culinary career at the Sheraton Hotel in Karachi and later gained experience in Dubai, Singapore, South Africa, Botswana, and the UK. He eventually became a familiar face on Pakistani television through programs on Indus TV, Hum TV, Masala TV, and Dawn News.

Chef Zakir passed away in Karachi on April 21, 2025. His cooking continues to be remembered for practical techniques, accessible ingredients, and the way he introduced restaurant-style cooking to home kitchens.
At TheRecipesPK, I’ve been collecting and documenting Chef Zakir recipes since the blog began in 2013. This collection brings together his popular recipes in Urdu and English, making them easier for home cooks to follow and recreate.
What Made Chef Zakir’s Recipes Special?
Chef Zakir had a distinctive way of teaching cooking. Rather than making restaurant cooking seem complicated, he explained techniques that home cooks could actually use.
His recipes cover everything from traditional Pakistani curries and rice dishes to Chinese favorites, Continental recipes, desserts, drinks, and fusion dishes. His television programs helped introduce many viewers to different cooking styles while keeping the recipes practical for everyday kitchens.
Masala TV describes Chef Zakir as an internationally trained chef who began his career at Sheraton Hotel Karachi and later shared his culinary knowledge through television.
Pakistani Classics by Chef Zakir
Chef Zakir’s Pakistani recipes remain some of the most popular in this collection. His approach to cooking meat, curries, rice dishes, and traditional foods focused on building flavor through proper cooking techniques rather than complicated ingredients.
Chef Zakir’s Chinese & Asian Recipes
One of Chef Zakir’s strengths was bringing Chinese and Asian-inspired cooking into Pakistani home kitchens. His collection includes popular dishes such as Chicken Manchurian, Hot and Sour Soup, Shashlik, and other Chinese-style recipes.
Chicken Manchurian, for example, combines chicken with a tangy sauce made with chili garlic sauce, tomato ketchup, lemon juice, and spices.
These recipes are particularly useful for anyone looking to recreate the familiar restaurant-style Chinese food enjoyed in Pakistan.
Fusion, Continental & International Recipes
Chef Zakir wasn’t limited to traditional Pakistani cooking. His recipes also included Continental, European, and international influences, reflecting his professional experience and exposure to different cuisines.
Chef Zakir Desserts & Drinks
The collection isn’t limited to savory dishes. You can also find sweet dishes, drinks, and baking recipes associated with Chef Zakir, including desserts and refreshing beverages.
These recipes are useful for Eid, family gatherings, dinner parties, and other occasions when you want something special to serve after a meal.

Cooking Tips Inspired by Chef Zakir’s Style
When making meat and curry recipes, pay attention to the cooking technique rather than rushing through the steps. Proper browning, controlled heat, and allowing the spices to cook properly can make a noticeable difference in the final flavor.
For beef recipes and mutton dishes, give the meat enough time to become tender before moving to the final stage of the recipe. For curries, don’t rush the process of cooking the onion, spices, or yogurt mixture, as these stages help build the foundation of the dish.
