As I watched chef Shireen Anwar make Khameeri Poori, I quickly wrote down the recipe, and the next day I recreated it.

I enjoyed the crispy and excellent taste of the Puri. I have tried a poori recipe before, but the taste didn’t satisfy me. It is best served with chana bhaji.

Homemade Khameeri Poori Recipe

  • 3 cups Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Yeast
  • 4 tbsp Milk powder
  • Water to knead the dough


  1. In a bowl add flour, salt, sugar, yeast, milk powder and knead into a soft dough.
  2. Leave covered to rise until doubled.
  3. Punch down the dough, make into balls.
  4. Roll into puri and deep fry till light golden.
