Dahi Bare is a popular snack or appetizer in South Asian cuisine, particularly in Pakistan. It consists of lentil-based dumplings (bare) that are deep-fried until crispy and then served with a tangy yogurt sauce (dahi).
Dahi Baray is one of the favorite desi food in Pakistan. It is mostly served during Ramadan and as a side dish at a get-together. This is a tried and tested recipe of dahi bhalay by our home chef.

Ingredients
- Daal mash 1 cup
- Daal moong 1 cup
- Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
- Red chilli 1 tsp
- Salt 1 1/2 tsp
- White cumin (Zeera) 1 tsp
- Baking powder 1/2 tsp
- Yogurt 1/2 kg (beaten)
- Imli ki Chutney as required
- Chaat masala to taste
Instructions
- Wash & soak both daals together for 3,4 hours then blend with very little water.
- Make sure it should be a fine paste. Now add ginger garlic paste, red chili, salt, white cumin, and baking powder.
- Leave it for 15 minutes again.
- Heat oil in a wok, carefully drop the mixture in warm oil with a spoon and fry on the medium-slow flame until golden brown.
- Remove on paper and allow to cool. Then soak in water until soft. Squeeze out water and set in a serving platter.
- Pour over yogurt, tamarind chutney, and sprinkle chaat masala.
- Let cool and serve dahi bary.
Note
For later use, keep them in a zip lock or plastic bag when you need to soak them in warm water & mix with yogurt and chutney.
